Craigieburns

Today I've been the highest under my own steam than I have for a very long time. It felt amazing.

A strange thing happens. The higher I get the more relaxed and at home I feel. That hasn't changed. It's my happy place and I've missed it.

Ten of us laughed, grunted, and hauled ourselves through beech forest and up onto the tops, before descending down a long scree slope. What a cracker - except for the gnarly bit at the top. Then back into the bush.

The weather was kind. High cloud, pleasant temperatures, and less wind than we expected. Craigieburn Valley club ski field is in the background. As the crow flies, we're about half way between the east and west coasts.

Today's gratitude: For being there and being able to do it.
