Land submerged

Obviously we have had some heavy rain lately. You might remember the photos with Omo and D. earlier this week. But we hadn't really noticed, actually.
This morning I saw the connecting street between our village and one of the neighbouring villages was flooded for about 200m. It happens a couple of times a year, but usually only on a shorter distance.
The rivulet Gersprenz, with most of the time a water height of 10cm, can rise to 2m or more. And then it floods a lot of land, streets, bridges, and even some houses. The (volunteer) fire brigade in bespoke neighbouring village had quite some work a couple of days ago to cope with all the water.
I don't know why, but it seems to get worse over the years. The rivers are being de-canalised, with more room to flood. Perhaps the bigger rivers, Main and Rhine, can't cope with the water anymore so it builds up in the smaller rivers. The high water cities like Cologne will see when the Netherlands fight a much higher sea level in a number of years.
