The Prinicples Of Operation

It was a good morning - guddling about in our training course, fixing problems and pretty much being Mr Oh-Yes-He-Can.  Some good feedback at the end of it too.  I'm feeling pretty good about things.

And I got a phone call this afternoon - do I know a way of letting some developers test with an older version of a computer language?  But only in 1 project.  Yes, yes I do.  I'll set that up tomorrow and I'll walk my relatively new colleague through the steps we need to take.

The lethargy and exhaustion of last week seems to have gone, I feel energised again.  Heavens I even have a pot of soup cooking - last week I could barely eat anything.  Really, a slice of bread did me for the whole day.  It's a huge relief that I seem to be past that.

As for the title, well, I've been working with a lot of IBM documentation to support the software that I've been training people to use and that means dipping into the IBM documentation library.  This is not something I can recommend.  But there is one manual called The Principles Of Operation and it is known around IBM as POO.

They should rename all of their manuals like that:

POO for ISPF
POO for SCLM

and so on.

Childish and yet it amused me hugely.
