Nature Diary... Hopeful signs

Another blue sea, blue sky day with glorious sunshine all day! The little birds were envied as they fed hungrily from the feeders while the bigger birds looked on from both near and far. The pigeon as usual was the nearest one and from afar a crow looked down hopefully from a huge telegraph pole. But swooping in as beautifully and as elegantly as ever as soon as there was a chance, came one of the regular magpie family who have been visiting us for many years, and who have been bringing their adorable little youngster to feed every year.

There’s never any arguments at the feeders as everyone seems to keep their distance if a potential bully-boy is around, although the pigeons tend to be the most daring but don’t ever find much they can reach, unlike the acrobatic magpies.

Nearby the sheep have now been moved to a higher field around the edge of which the trees are starting to show definite hints of green with hopes perhaps of an early spring. How lovely that would be!
