Wintersweet

A beautiful day: frost, blue skies, sunshine, and  flowers in the garden.
The main shows Chimonanthus praecox, also known  as Wintersweet, which has a wonderful perfume, and the extra is Daphne bholua "Jacqueline  Postill" , also heavily scented. The latter plant is named after the  wife of one of Hillier Gardens' chief propagators , Alan Postill. It does grow very well here on the chalk and lots of our local friends have this cultivar, too. One  of our friends spied a Red Admiral  butterfly on his Daphne plant today.
