Heron at a distance

Bit blurry unfortunately but the heron was quite far away (so I was at max zoom) and the sun was blinding (yes really!). However I enjoyed watching him preening himself in between monitoring the river.

It was a beautiful day and I had actually gone to the riverside hoping to see kingfishers. I got excited when I saw a guy with binoculars down on the river bank but he said they were being elusive today. He gave me some good tips about local bird watching sites etc though and showed me some of his photos which included a trio of kingfishers all on the same branch.
