The Rising

Every year after the Easter Sunday service the minister and members of the congregation from the local Parish Church hold a short service on the banks of Knapps Loch during which a wooden cross bedecked in Daffodils is erected and it stands on a high point between the road and the loch, a poignant reminder of the religious significance of this time of year.

I have been meaning to get out and shoot this all week but other commitments have precluded it so this evening as the sun gently started to bow, I walked out and crossed the field, it was a beautiful, fresh spring evening the religious imagery was emphasized by the now wilting blooms, they resembled bells, calling the faithful as they fluttered in the breeze. The colours had faded, the vibrant yellows I hoped for slipped away for another year the symbolism stronger that the reality it seems. I shot it in monochrome nonetheless.

I hope you enjoy and have a peaceful evening... until tomorrow
