Over the worst

I had orthopaedic surgery on 5th January and I’m now thinking - “I shouldn’t have done it”. Don’t be silly, it’s worth it in the end. The pain in the first week was almost unbearable. For someone that has dedicated their life to endurance sports, and loves self inflicted pain, this has been the worst thing I’ve ever endured. Maybe because it wasn’t self inflicted pain, rather it was pain from my body thinking “hallelujah, he has finally had his foot fixed. Let’s get to work and heal this boy”. Either way, it’s been a long 11 days. Stitches get removed next week and hopefully by then the swelling will have calmed down…
