Don’t Kick Me!

No cat in this house gets kicked as much as Chaiyya. And of course, we never ever mean to kick her! She’s just very clumsy, it’s like she has no instinct to tell her that it’s a bad idea to get in the way of a walking human. On the contrary, she seems to have a talent for running exactly in front of, or even between our legs.

She also loves to plonk herself in front of us and sit there (or fall over, asking for cuddles), when we are busy cooking or washing up. So it has become a rule in this house to always check the floor in front of us for a small black cat, before we go anywhere - especially when carrying something bulky, like a laundry basket. But however careful we both are, every two or three weeks it happens that one of us overlooks her and steps on her paw, or kicks her in the side. It’s a horrible feeling for us, and probably more so for poor Chaiyya, but she never learns anything from it.

Oh, and just in case you wonder: The agency still didn’t find a carer for my mother, and there are only three days left.
