Shoe

Today I'd scheduled a 14 mile walk, this time accompanied by Mandy, Helen (who is also doing the Moonwalk), and Cameron (who is training for walking in the Lake District next month). A couple of incidents made it a memorable trip.

Firstly, a swan started flying down the canal where we were walking, saw us and veered off to the side. Unfortunately, there were a lot of trees around and he couldn't really flap his wings properly, and so fell to ground in the field next to the canal with a hell of a thump. We waited for a while to see if he was ok, but he just sat in the field - alive but either in shock or injured. We were hoping that once we moved on, he would get up and fly off, but we'll never know for sure.

And secondly, Mandy managed to fall down a bit of a hole (while looking at a rather nice house we were passing rather than the path ahead) and cut her shin and knee quite badly. Luckily, we had some plasters and wadding on hand to patch her up.

Luckily, we didn't have a third bad thing for which we were very grateful! I'm rather tired and a bit achey now though. Early night I think.

We passed this shoe on the tow-path - goodness knows how long it had been there to be covered in moss!
