Hedgehog

On this morning's walk with Alfie I came across an almost complete ring of Wood Hedgehog (Hydnum repandum) fungi about four metres in diameter. Its an unusual fungus, instead of gills or pores the underside has spines hanging down. It makes an interesting spore print. Unfortunately I was a long way from home and didn't have anything I could carry one in without damaging the soft spines so no spore print from this one.
