Life's Little Moments

Uncommon Grackle

The only thing uncommon about this Common Grackle is the fully raised head feathers - not something I've ever seen in this species.  A funny image, if not technically great.  In pre-puppy days, I'd have been out in my hide this morning snapping pics of birds in the snow.  Instead, I was sitting inside on the sofa shooting through two extra layers of glass with a very interested pup at my side.  Turns out he loves watching the birds.  Occasionally he growls at them but mostly he's just interested.  (and not in an "I'd like to eat that" sort of way!)

We have obedience class tonight which will hopefully make for a good night of sleep for him (and us).  We walked on the Lane today, practicing the "loose lead" walking.  Limited success.  He's a puller and it's going to take a lot more work on our part to get him to where he's good an a leash.  Not to mention that he is easily distracted by just about everything.

MIL's facility is on a full lockdown now with only limited visits by "essential caregiver" family members, in this case my Hubs and his sister.  They have a number of staff out right now, either with the virus or quarantined because of exposure.  The 2 resident cases were both traced back to family members, alas.  How must it feel to know you've been responsible for getting your elderly parent infected?  Luckily, no one is ill enough to need hospital.  Small mercies.

Dark with orange, quinoa and tumeric.  Sourced in Ecuador and totally delicious.
