Sheep and lambs' tails
Another beautiful morning greeted us today. First, we had all the excitement(!) of a trip to the tip (which had been booked earlier in the week) but we followed this with a walk from South Winchester beside the River Itchen, and up over St Catherine's Hill (site of an old Iron Age fort) now a chalk downland nature reserve. See St Catherine's Hill We met some very curious and friendly sheep, and some cattle. The extras show the view from near the top of the reserve looking towards the village of Chilcomb, and hazel catkins (lambs' tails). Birds seen included Buzzard, Red Kite, Kestrel, Stonechat Redwing. The only downside was that it was very muddy and slippery in places, but otherwise a grand day out.
