trees

Sarah and I visited a neighbour's garden this morning - she wanted us to see her beautiful white-berried rowan (Sorbus cashmiriana) before the berries faded. The Community Council are going to plant some of these trees locally for the Jubilee..

There were many other wonderful trees to wonder at, and this one was always our favourite - Sarah remembers climbing on it when the previous owner invited us around for tea. I remember Joe sneaking away to ride up and down on the stairlift and banging the big dinner gong...luckily the old lady liked Joe and had a secret box of "bric-a -brac" (old toys) to keep him entertained :-)

This tree, a Lebanon Cedar, has a wonderful resiny scent. It was too tall to fit all the branches into one photo!
