Yeovil’s Dreams? Wrexham Wrecks’em!

We weren’t expecting to do well against high flying Wrexham with their expensive players financed by their Hollywood owners today, especially having sold our main goal scorer yesterday, our other two strikers relegated to the subs bench and both our centre backs out injured.

As it happens, we played far better than we have of late, with more pace, movement and accuracy and we deservedly took the lead after 10 minutes then matched Wrexham for the rest of the game.

Unfortunately, they scored two very good goals in the second half, the first in controversial circumstances when one of our players was lying flat out with a head injury: we half stopped, expecting the ref to stop the game or Wrexham to kick the ball out but they played on and scored.

After that they had the momentum and scored another late on to ruin our hopes of a deserved point. Still, it was a much improved and encouraging performance.

I decided to give my knee a rest and miss Park Run this morning and, in a touching show of solidarity, Tess and Chris decided to stay in their warm beds too. Felt much better today.
