Doing Fine

When this praying mantis nymph moved from the leafy green artichokes to the brightly coloured Alexanders seedhead I thought she had made a mistake. She lost the advantages of camouflage and shelter, and there were no flowers to attract insects. However, she has grown more than the others she was with. Today when I was checking on her a fly came along. She quickly snatched it with her powerful front legs and proceeded to eat it.
