Low Down

I took a walk around Shepherd Meadows and the Balancing Pond today on the lookout for suitable shots for BobsBlips "Low-angle" Wide Wednesday Challenge. I had something in mind, but the grey, flat weather did not provide the right conditions and it didn't help that the river banks were too high.  I managed to get down low enough for this shot across the pond before I was photo bombed  by the swans rushing over for some hoped for titbits ... they were out of luck!

The extra is of an unusual duck I spotted in the river. My field guide identifies this as a female Goosander which apparently overwinters in this area, but it normally breeds and resides in the north of the UK.
