Scoured

An example of the aforementioned snow patterns, produced by the action of the wind. They only become evident when the sun is out so there is enough contrast for the camera to record detail. Even so the histogram is pretty narrow.

I included the hole as a counterpoint so the pattern has something to play off. I find in shots where there is only a pattern, they can become decorative and with insufficient interest to keep the viewer engaged.

Adding another incongruous element asks questions: why is it there, where should it be in the frame, what caused it, what was the artist thinking, etc.
