Kailzie Gardens

It wasn't as though we intended to go on this bright, clear day. No, we went for coffee at Whitmuir  Farm Shop but it was closed so we continued to Broughton's Laurel Bank tearoom for an early lunch.
From here we considered going to Dawyck but, having been often enough, continued through Peebles (no, we didn't even stop for charity shops) to Kailzie, in case the snowdrops were out.

In the extra collage we see that they are nearly out - lots on display but none yet open - in another few days there will be a wonderful show. Also in the collage are, within the grounds: a view of the fountain looking into the walled garden; a statue of Mercury/Hermes; two Hellebores; ageing rowan berries with lichen (which is in great evidence over the whole garden).

Main picture I could not resist. As we approached the eastern edge of the estate we stood aside for a van to pass; it then reversed back and parked aside to allow a tractor and trailer to pass, this was heading to the field gate. The drivers were having a long conversation about the job underway when a mini-tractor and trailer arrived down the track blocked by the van. Whoever would expect a traffic jam in the middle of a quiet country estate. Naturally, as they were all working for the same organisation it was all very good-humoured and purposeful, while not hurried.
