Lacy

We often see interesting artwork in The Gallery Cafè in Penicuik and today there was an exhibition covering different fabric techniques, including felting, quilting and so on.

On one display panel of different techniques, composed of approximately 1 foot squares, I was struck by this example of lacework using fine cotton. The piece measures something like 5 inches across. I admire the delicacy of the different motifs - the hearts and buds resulting in a central star, the tiny loops around the edge - worked so evenly, demonstrating the skill of the crafter.

I just wonder why it was mounted off-centre.
