Kirkhill House

Otherwise known as The Mansion House of Kirkhill this B-listed C18 mansion was almost certainly built on the site of a mediæval church with links to the Knights Templar, its location being a short distance from established Templar sites.

Built by Henry Dundas in the 1700's as a Dower House to nearby  Arniston House,  it retains an original Georgian block, extended at right angles and linked by a tower with round-headed lancet windows (one visible in my photo), the house retains many original features despite a devastating fire in the 1950's.

In the 1970's it was converted to a hotel and is now an events venue.
