And Again!

Sorry, it's almond trees again, on our other neighbour's land this time, looking down from the castle bulwarks. Beyond the almond trees, you can see a lot of our Land, and both our top building on the left, and where we live far right, with the São Sebastião chapel in the middle. The yellow square to the left of our home is Mike's container. You can tell it's getting dry again, and no prevision for rain.

The big news in Portugal is that António Costa, the prime minister, not only won the election, but that his socialist party has a majority, which was a surprise. Our more right wing friends are worried they are spending money they don't have. Still, it feels like stability.

Mourão is preparing for its big festa in two days' time. They were setting up lights at the castle when I walked past today, and just heard the firecrackers signalling the beginning of celebrations.

Gratefuls:
- feeling well again, it's wonderful!
- realising we've been in Portugal six years and six days (thanks for making me look, Lydie)
- the book that Julia bought me in the airport, A Terrible Kindness, by Jo Browning Wroe, such a good read, and the protagonist is based in Sutton Coldfield! The author grew up in the crematorium where my Grandma and Mum were both cremated, and went to John Wilmott. The story revolves around two pieces of music, "Myfanwy", a Welsh love song, and "Miserere mei" by Allegri. I think the latter is what the book is about, the possibility of forgiveness and reconciliation. Totally loved it.
