A Sunday in January

Out for lunch and we arrived at P&K’s just as Nadal had levelled the Australian Open final at two sets each against some lanky Russian. Final set then and everyone in the room and in Australia and everywhere was supporting the lovable Rafa so I had no difficulty in supporting Medvedev. Besides, the young lad doesn’t hoyk his shorts out his crack with anything like the same frequency as Nadal. Or at all, even.
As it was, my man narrowly lost, making Nadal champion and adding a record 21st Grand Slam. Which he only got unfairly as the Australians banned the jokerman for taking the piss.
The rain came down. We got home and watched a Storyville - Final Account, filmed in 2008 by Luke Holland but only completed shortly before his death in 2020 at the age of 71. Quite a masterpiece.
