Filter day

Today the long overdue job of cleaning the aquarium filter(s) was achieved.  Putting the non-bio filters through the washing machine on rinse and spin saves a lot of hard squeezing and rinsing, and does a superb job.  All the bio filters needed replacing.

Didn’t ‘hoover’ the gravel, but gave most of the aquarium the once over and topped up with about four gallons of water.

Ideally the plecs could do with a bigger tank and a new home, but they are part of the family.  They will come and have a chat with you sometimes.  We had a little tate-a-tate this morning when they got spooked when I opened the lid.  They quickly settled down when told sternly to behave themselves, then we had a nose to nose chat (through the glass!).

Took a shot or two to get one in the camera, and that was what I finally needed.  Needed a bit of work with ‘skew’.

Our fourth meal out of the Sunday chicken tonight - not decided what yet.

ps - I've just looked it up and we've had the plecs since 17th December 2012.  Pauline had the aquarium for her burpday in the July of that year.
