Quod oculus meus videt

The Modern Way

The farrier's forge has become hi-tech, sitting in a small box, fired by propane gas in the back of a van,  The farrier had come down to replace a thrown shoe from one of the other horses in the block, and was happy to let me point the lens in through the small opening while he softened the metal of the shoe before presenting it to the hoof.

Later, we visited a new development just up the road.  We've been mulling over the idea of a move, nearer to Cannock Chase, and there are a few developments nearby.  We loved one of the show homes, but struggled to reconcile the density that houses are now built on modern estates, coupled with the front facades being closer to the roads, requiring many of the cars to be parked in the road.  When we compare it with our home, again on an estate, but built in the 1990s, you can't help but feel blessed that we have space around us and no one overlooking.

Even if we do move, I don't think we'll be likely to go to a new home built by one of the mass builders.
