Festival of Light

Utterly wonderful fireworks with music display at the castle tonight. In extra, looking down from the castle at the procession of Mourão's patron saint, Our Lady of Light, coming up the street by the old folks' home. Notice the bedspreads hanging out of people's windows. (Video)

Afterwards, we wandered down into town, candles on all the windowsills, and greeted and chatted to folk and then walked back with Leonor and her family till their house, and then on into the dark to our place. There will be a concert, as there was last night, but I just don't have the energy for it. Can't quite work it out - would have been so up for it a few years ago. Is it the pandemic, or what??

As for my scare yesterday, it was someone trying the door while I was home alone, and then voices outside sometime later, felt quite scary. Then Mike discovered they'd cut the plastic on the broken car window and gone through everything inside - but not taken much. The most annoying was our mobile internet, so he spent ages on the phone getting them to block our SIM card... and then found it thrown in the back of the car, so spent another age getting it unblocked again. That was after we'd driven to Reguengos to buy another mobile router, which we'll now have to return. Anyway, all's well; just a shame to not feel as safe as we used to.

Gratefuls:
- Mike running home in the dark to fetch my other camera battery when mine died, still not very au fait with this camera...
- that I managed to get one or two fairly decent shots of the fireworks, even though I was struggling to work out how to do it, and handheld
- Mourão's new president, he really is trying hard, the fireworks were incredible, fifteen minutes of utter beauty; at one point, they were like a waterfall down the castle walls
