Whitstable sunset

A fine walk along the North Kent Coast from Hampton Pier to Whitstable via Tankerton this afternoon. All very flat along the seawall with the sea lapping gently on one side.

It was mild with light, layered cloud hiding the sun for most of the way out. We stopped at the Hotel Continental for tea and a scone which was when the sunset really started to thrill. I was in and out of the bar as the light developed as were many other people.

We’ve passed the hotel dozens of times and not called in. It was a revelation, a very comfortable and relaxing place and the tea and scone very good indeed. We didn’t realise that the hotel was just part of a much larger enterprise which encompassed the Whitstable Oyster Company and holiday let’s along Whitstable seafront.

Walking back, the sunset was behind us meaning we kept turning around to watch it until it was no more than a fading red slash as we’re arrived back at the car in the dark.

I had a quick strum on the uke to mark National Ukulele day.

I suppose this blip meeting the criteria of “Nature” for Wide Wednesday hosted by BobsBlips. Thanks Bob
