Keere Street

Keere Street, also known as Scare Hill, is the steepest cobbled street in Lewes. Lying just outside the old town wall it drops sharply down from the High Street to Southover Grange and is lined with 18th and 19th century properties. Legend has it that the Prince Regent (the future George IV) drove a coach and four horses down the hill. I found it hard enough to walk down, admittedly on a wet morning, with the spaniel pulling on a lead.
