Return Flight

The cranes are flying back north - a sure sign of spring to come!

I celebrated the mild temperatures today (10°C) by working with an open window. And suddenly I heard the unmistakable sound of cranes.

They broke up their usual "V"-formation to circle a few times, gaining height in the thermals over our area.

When I took this photo, they were starting to get organized again and disappeared towards the north-east of us, over the Taunus hills.

In the extra: the very first snowdrops in our garden, complete with a visiting hover fly.
