Place Fell

At last, that strange bright object in the sky made a brief appearance today. We decided to go down to Hartsop and walk Place Fell, rather than walk just up and down the same way, we went over the fell and dropped down to Ullswater by High Knott. The circular was slightly longer than we'd expected at over 10 miles, which in the really high winds was a real effort. 

The walk beyond the top of Place fell was a path neither Deb or I had ever walked, which is always a real treat. Partway down, we passed a fabulous ruined quarry hut (extra) I prefer the extra as a photo, but the main pic is what the day was about. Standing by the trig point was almost impossible because of the strength of the wind, yet it looks so peaceful in the photo!
