Antrim Castle Motte

This motte lies in the gardens of Antrim Castle. These gardens are unique in that they retain their original design and layout from the early 17th century, whereas it was the fashion in the 18th and 19th centuries to redesign the layout of the gardens of the aristocracy. Such examples are therefore now quite rare and explains why the Heritage Lottery Fund and others have contributed to the restoration of Antrim Castle Gardens.
Despite the sun and the blue sky, the wind chill demanded a winter coat and hat.
