Canvasback

Conditions were perfect for a trip to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, so Suzanne and I made the two hour car ride to this well known waterfowl sanctuary.  The resident Screech Owls weren't home (or were sleeping), but we got photos of two Bald Eagles, a Great Blue Heron, a bluebird, multiple ducks, and lots of geese and swans in the distance.  Before and after we stopped at nearby Cambridge, MD to look for the reported Snowy Owl.  We found her, but she was at a distance, and partially hidden by boating equipment.  An added bonus at this location was a multitude of ducks - Canvasbacks, American Wigeons, Lesser Scaups, Redheads, Mallards, and probably a handful of others.  All in all it was a fun adventure, especially on a winter day.
