Leaderfoot Viaduct

Longer walk today - some 10-miles, or so - and by far the best weather of our short trip ...

... we went from near Earlston, along the River Leader, through to Leaderfoot, then under the *truly impressive" Leaderfoot Viaduct on our way to Melrose. Between Leaderfoot and Melrose (near Newstead) you pass by Trimontium - the site of a huge Roman fort complex: see extra.

Pub lunch in Melrose, then back along to Leaderfoot, and finally we returned along the other bank of the River Leader, up to Earlston.
