After the storm

Last night hound disappeared into the dark garden. Hoping he wouldn't get into mischief i set off after him. Discovered a large bough of the elder had split from the trunk.  Greyhounds have very thin skin and frequently cut themselves sniffing among sharp plants. So with a torch returned hound indoors and trimmed back offending branches.
Cycled to local baker and green grocer for supplies before breakfast. This morning assessed the damage and got the saw out to reduce sharp branches at greyhound level.  I felt very sad to be cutting young wood with buds.  Filled garden waste recycling bin. Still more to do but rain stopped play today.  It's safe for now.  Still more to do.
Prepared dinner for bipeds and quadruped.
Took hound for walk in glorious sunshine.
Made pot of orange pekoe tea to have with  slice of cake.
Now reading Sowing - An Autobiography of the Years 1880-1904 by Leonard Woolf.  Lovely little hardback published in 1962 and including some charming monochrome photographs.
Have a pleasant, safe Saturday evening.
