Gardening Wednesday (23rd February 2022)

The hellebores in the Woodland Garden are all over the place at the moment, and doing well. This one is a darker colour than the others. A couple of crocuses were fully out this morning, but when I went out to blip them after lunch they had closed up again out of pure spite. A couple of daffodils have been slowly opening under the apple tree and finally one was properly out today.

Last year Refna had grown weary of her gardening job and was considering alternatives (although she did continue overseeing mine), but now she has a renewed keenness in gardening and is considering casting aside her employed work to concentrate on the gardens she manages. Today we had a morning of tidying up and preparing leaf mulch.

Lozarhythm of the Day:
Procol Harum - A Salty Dog (1969)
Procol Harum: Gary Brooker (vcl, pno, celeste, 3-str gtr, har, bells, perc), Matthew Fisher (Hammond organ, ac gtr, recorder, marimba, vcl), Robin Trower (gtr, ac gtr, sleigh tamb, vcl), David Knights (bass), BJ Wilson (dr, conga, tabla, perc, whistle)
R.I.P. Gary Brooker (29 May 1945, London - 19 February 2022, London
Although now most remembered for their debut single A Whiter Shade Of Pale, Procol Harum recorded many excellent albums, their third being A Salty Dog from which this single was extracted. Several members from Gary Brooker's earlier R&B Beat Boom band the Paramounts joined future line-ups over the years. They were one of the first bands to have a lyricist who was not also a musician in the band, in this case Keith Reid. Gary Brooker went on to record and perform with George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Kate Bush and many others.
