My Life With Luna

By chrisA

Walking round the garden looking for something to blip when I spotted this little bee busy collecting pollen from a Crocus flower.   You can see a build up of the pollen on the hairs of his hind legs.
Pollen is collected and carried by many bee species on the hairs of their hind legs which is called 'scopa'.   On honey and bumble bees the hairs on their hind legs are specially adapted to form pollen baskets called 'corbiculae'.
