The Road Goes Ever On

The Road goes ever on and on
Out from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
Let others follow it who can!
Let them a journey new begin,
But I at last with weary feet
Will turn towards the lighted inn,
My evening-rest and sleep to meet.
- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King

On a whim, or maybe, to counter the darkness, a walk this morning, and a picnic, sitting among just opened rock roses and emerging lavender, listening to the bees.

Gratefuls:
- so much beauty in this world
- so much kindness and generosity
- guacamole flavoured tortilla chips

And another quote from the same book:
There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.

Extra of our neighbour, Manuel, burning his olive prunings.
