Stripey

I found this caterpillar munching away on a tree fern in my garden just now. From the amount of leaf damage, it seems to have been munching for some time. I think it's a cluster caterpillar, possibly Spodoptera litura, although the Atlas of Living Australia says that there is another very similar species which can only be distinguished by examining its genitalia. No thanks.
