SNOWDROPS!

Snowdrops and daffodils in the woods!
I cleaned this morning, which I hate to do, and then to cheer myself I walked Samuel off-path in the woods and stalked two woodpeckers, saw a feather in bamboo, and then came across hundreds of snowdrops and a small clump of what I think will be daffodils. 

Then I came home and made a list of good news. 

Today’s good news
 
·      Musk activated Starlink satellites in response to a request from the Ukrainian deputy prime minister to supply satellite-based communications to help resist Russia’s invasion 
·      BP is exiting its 20% stake in the Russian oil company Rosneft
·      Russian airlines may be grounded because their financial institutions are sanctioned and they may not be able to pay their leases
·      The EU is going to ban Russian flights from its airspace
·      The Russian military has not made the progress it expected, providing a huge boost in morale and giving people an opportunity to get guns and otherwise prepare for resistance
·      The Russian military has not made the progress it expected, and people around the world are so moved by acts of heroism that they are contributing more to help
·      Some Russians have been captured
·      European countries are welcoming Ukrainian refugees
·      The Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland all said they were sending arms

·      Germany will provide Ukraine with military aid
·      The US authorized $350 million in new military assistance. 
·      Australia will provide Ukraine with military aid
·      France will send fuel and defensive equipment
·      Norway is freezing Russian assets in its sovereign wealth fund
·      100,000 people demonstrated for Ukraine in Berlin
·      The UK and US may release strategic oil reserves to stabilize oil prices
·      There is growing pressure to sanction Russian oil and natural gas sales, which would actually hurt, eventually
·      Germany is going to accelerate its transition to renewable energy
·      More European countries are announcing grants to promote cycling and walking which will reduce vehicle use
·      FaceBook suspended ads from Russia
·      YouTube suspended ads from Russia
·      Twitter suspended ads from Russia
·      Hackers are attacking Russia including volunteers, Anonymous, Cyber Partisans, and even some Russians
·      The Czech Republic, Poland, and Sweden will not play Russia in World Cup qualifying matches 
·     Carnegie Hall canceled appearances by pro-Putin musicians
·      Russians do not support the war
·      Russians protested the war in cities across the country, which is incredible given the level of repression and the certainty of arrests and beatings
·      Russia had to limit access to Facebook and other social media sites because Russians were expressing anger over the war
·      A Russian platoon supposedly surrendered
·      FedEx and UPS are suspending deliveries in Russia
·      European soccer clubs have dropped sponsorships from Russian companies
·      Danish company Orsted is ending all contracts with Russian firms
·      Swedish company Vattenfall has stopped purchases of Russian uranium
·      Intel and AMD have stopped sales of chips to Russia
·      Irish fishermen beat the Russian navy

Pesto mozzarella tomato spinach quesadilla.
