Doris! Doris!

It's a honeysuckle. Burgeoning it is. Home to spaffinches* it will be. Moments before I took this, Stuart Sparrow was wandering about with a feather in his beak calling "Doris! Doris! Where do you want to start the nest?" To be fair a whole flock of spaffinches was on the same quest, but Stuart has the feather.

(*) Spaffinches, you may recall, is our generic term for sparrows and chaffinches who, hereabouts, tend to cohabit and feed together. It may also include various tits.

In other news, in Inverness there is a substantial Polish community, including friends of ours. Last night we saw on Twitter (see, Twitter does have value) an appeal from them for aid to the Ukranian refugees in Poland. So this morning we drifted into town, bought a box of toiletries and five sleeping bags, and Mrs Oons handed it all to the young Polish lady coordinating the collection. The resulting Facebook post was texted to us (we won't go near Facebook, you see). See the extras. I must concur. Mrs Oons really is a very nice Scottish woman.

Anyway, I don't tell you this to pat ourselves on the back, but to suggest you might be able do something similar in your neck of the woods. They need our help. Russia is firmly in war crimes territory.
