Zbieramy rzeczy da ukrainskich uchodzcow

That's "we collect things for Ukranian refugees". Apparently. Its in the extra.

Today, for want of something to fill the time and get me off the live feeds from Ukraine, I got on with the decorating I've been putting off for weeks. Mrs Oons thinks I'm a corking caulker, but she's biased. At least I'm better than Bodger the Builder.

Tomorrow we go shopping to see what we can put towards the list in the extra. It will set off for Poland on Tuesday. In the Soviet days, our friend tried escaping from Poland with a neighbour, and made it to the Hungarian border before his companion was shot dead. He himself was conscripted into the army as punishment, put on very dangerous clearance of WWII mines, and after that posted to Chernobyl at the height of the emergency. When the USSR fell, he made it to Scotland. For him, this is more than personal. By comparison, our help will be trivial. But it's something practical we can all do.
