Opening Pitch

Today started with an early morning run with my brother down to Aylesford village, along the riverbank and then back home for a big bacon sarnie. A great start to the day!
After a hot bath and a post run snooze we decided we would head back to one of our local pubs, The Poppy Fields, which has been closed for nearly six weeks for refurbishments. It has now been renamed The Fields at Aylesford and we wanted to see what its opening pitch was to customers.
What a transformation! It had become a little bit tired looking in places but it has been completely updated and refreshed - it even now has two outdoor terraces, a whole new layout and has been totally redecorated and reconfigured. It was originally mainly a dining pub but it now has a separate pub bar area where you can just come for a drink.
I had a good chat with the staff, who were delighted to be reopen. They gave us a really lovely welcome and confirmed the actual rebuild had only taken 3 weeks (astonishing considering the amount of work done) and that they had then had 2 weeks of staff training to familiarise themselves with the new set up. Best of all the beer was still the same price! :-)
Today's image was taken on an afternoon walk where we passed our local sports ground. I was walking along the perimeter path as a view of the five-a-side football pitch opened up and the spring-like sunshine silhouetted the players and cast their long shadows.
