Downtown

In London for a couple of days.  Normally we just stay over for one night and use a Premier Inn which is cheap and cheerful with comfortable beds.  However, as we are here for two nights this time we decided to go for a better hotel we have used before not far from the Natural History and V&A Museums.  A week or so ago we had an email to say the Government has taken over the entire hotel so they have upgraded us to a five star sister hotel in Mayfair just near the Ritz for the same price, and very nice it is too! Shortly after we arrived W had an appointment so I popped in to the Porterhouse in Covent Garden, one of my favourite bars, for a relaxing pint.

A bit of chilling in the room and then this evening we are eating at The Ivy; the original one, not one of the chain restaurants that seem to be opening everywhere.  We've eaten there before a couple of times and it's always been good and just occasionally, you see a famous face!
