This is a trick I learned while watching YouTube videos for making face masks. I don't know why I'd never heard it before.
When sewing a whole series of the same thing, run the thread from each to the next with a couple of backstitches at either end instead of starting and stopping each one individually. This saves approximately 30cms of thread for each single unit. That's a lot of thread on a big project.
