Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Puget Sound Waterfront

A fine day. Time at two of our favorite places in Seattle. The Art Museum and the Aquarium where we had tickets for one of their "sound conversations" - tonight with the head of the Oceanography department at the UW. So we decided to go early and grab some happy hour dinner at the nearby Art Museum's cafe. Some of you know I'm not cooking much-! so any meal out is a treat but this one was EXCELLENT! (roasted beet and fig salad, fabulous salt cod fritters, and 2 desserts inspired by the currant exhibition from London: black and tan- thick bay scented hot chocolate with guinness ice cream sandwich, and molasses steamed pudding with caramelized pears and ginger ice cream. I never saw the likes of these in London!) sorry I just had to talk food for a big change.....:-)

Then a little time for the museum, pondering that intriguing Verde Addio del Passata video once again. This time with a background of jazz quartet coming from the thursday night performance in the atrium.

And then the Aquarium and talk. The timing was perfect so I could catch this photo from the Aquarium pier just before the sun set. A touch of London on the waterfront too with our own big ferris wheel! We learned a few things about plankton (did you know that these tiny microbes in the ocean account for 50% of the Oxygen on our planet ---every other breath?) Some general findings about our Puget Sound's health and how the field of oceanography in general is changing with the new data-rich science...

Tomorrow we are off early to the gulf islands -Spring break next week and we need a couple days to get ready for family. I'm hoping my new 4G iphone will do a better job with the internet there than my old 3G. We'll see.... comments tomorrow.
