Acacia

We cycled into Winchester this morning and I was startled to see this magnificent tree in flower. I have cycled round  this corner, near the cathedral, so many times,  but not noticed it before. It is growing in a sheltered corner of a private garden so this is the best shot I could  get.
I think it is a Silver Wattle (Acacia dealbata) from Australia. I believe it is also known as florist's mimosa. The scented, yellow flowers were really very striking, and  a cheering sight on a day full of yet more dreadful news.
