Eastermains

Back Blip - one of several, so please bear with me!

A conference thingy on Zoom took up a good part of this morning, but I was able to drive over to Twechar in the afternoon for a wee circular walk around the village. One of the new features in the village is a replica Roman distance stone, carved and erected as part of the 'Rediscovering the Antonine Wall' project.

The Eastermains stone, pictured, is a replica of a distance marker created by the Roman army when they built the Antonine Wall and  then discovered in a nearby farm in the 18th century. The original is in the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow.
