Today Carly had a lumbar puncture to test for Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH).

Apart from a brief problem at hospital Reception, when they thought Carly had cancelled the appointment, the NHS hospital was lovely. We did have a fair bit of waiting around, but there were bottles of water and small packets of biscuits available and at lunch time they brought in packs of sandwiches. We had a tv to watch and I'd brought some crocheting to do, hence today's photo.

It turns out that Carly's hypertension was off the scale, so the doctor she saw previously who was very dismissive that she might have IIH is going to have to eat his words.

She should feel better for a bit now that some of the pressure has been relieved, and there is medication she can take. The main treatment is losing weight but we all know how hard that can be.

Waiting around is surprisingly tiring and I'm wiped now; Carly is feeling poorly as a result of the lumbar puncture, but that should wear off leaving her feeling better. I do hope so.
