The Chopping Block

We have only just found this wonderful place, just by Sainsbury's in Penrith, although it has been here a couple of years. A butcher, deli and cafe selling a lot of local produce. I love it. Yesterday I went for coffee and we unintentionally stopped for breakfast, and bought cheese from a good selection. Today we returned for coffee and scones. Really imaginative menu, great quality food, friendly service . . . and excellent coffee.

As I was sitting with my coffee this morning, a massive dog went by and everyone commented, wondering whether they had been seeing things. A few minutes later Gordon arrived and said he had just stopped to chat with a man with a dog (see extra). So, he now knew everything about it and everyone in the cafe wanted to hear.

It was a Komondor, a Hungarian Sheepdog (or sometimes known as a 'mop dog' for obvious reasons. They were originally used for guarding a flock - the size of it you could imagine it taking on a wolf.
