Tenacity

I expect this tree will fall eventually, hanging on as it is on the lip of a pit, half of its roots exposed already by erosion. But it is putting up a valiant effort to stay standing. Others in the wood at Mardley Heath had fallen under the recent storms. Sad, but where they fell, will become clearings and where the light gets through, new growth will come.
